Bet Mania are one of the leading betting sites still servicing the US market. The place they really stand out from the crowd is with their sick reduced juice lines and the best teaser lines of any sportsbook.
Alongside their lower commission lines, they also have a number of attractive bonuses and offer tons of special value promotions for fans of every major US sport.
For more than seven years BetMania has offered its sports betting services to people throughout the world. Things have not always been pretty for the Costa Rica based site, as players had previously complained of slow and non-payments for winnings. Those issues appear to be a thing of the past though, as BetMania was transitioned to the BetPhoenix platform and has seen its service steadily improve.
We have never actually taken a look at this site though due in no small part to the problems that the site have experienced. How does BetMania hold up when the reviewer is new to the experience?
Read on to find out.
Intense, But In A Good Way
When we first navigated over to BetMania’s website, we were met with the common red and black gambling themes that we see with so many sportsbooks. The site’s look is definitely intense, but in a way that we feel isn’t too overbearing.
We really enjoyed the up front extras that BetMania has put into place, with news stories offering a little extra pull to help keep players focused on the website. While content should always have been something that sites focused on, it is great to see that more books are understanding this and working to become a source for sports news and not just a place for gamblers to come and put their money in.
In terms of the actual book, things are pretty decent in terms of sports offered and odds. We found the following sports available for action at Betmania: Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Rugby, Hockey, Boxing, Racing, Tennis, Golf, MMA, and Cricket.
As mentioned above, lines are pretty good and are generally competitive with what we have seen at other Costa Rican based books such as 5Dimes or TopBet.
Those looking for other types of action on the BetMania site will be able to gamble through a built in casino and live dealer offering. We found that the casino was a bit underwhelming, but we did enjoy the video poker and table games.
The real star of BetMania’s casino though is the live dealer product, which we found to be very fun. The games included are blackjack, roulette, and baccarat, which are played out via webcam with girls based in a live dealer studio somewhere in Latin America.
In terms of the software and betting options available on BetMania, we were pretty impressed with what we saw here. While you aren’t getting the insane amount of action available at some other sites we have seen, the selections and bet types available are good enough that you definitely will not have any problems finding something to bet on here.
Too Bad The Mobile Is A Joke, Though
We consider mobile betting to be the wave of the future with online betting, so a great sportsbook has to have a good mobile product. Unfortunately BetMania’s mobile site loses some points in this aspect. The system’s mobile product is the same as many other Costa Rican books in that it is ugly, unresponsive, and generally not any fun to use. We really cannot recommend that you spend any time on this portion of BetMania. Stick to the desktop site; it is ten times better than the mobile.
Run Of The Mill Banking, But That’s Not Bad
When a book takes American bettors, we know that the financial options available for deposit and withdrawal will not knock our socks off. With that being said, the options available at BetMania are pretty good and about average from what we see at other sportsbooks operating in the USA.
Players in the US may deposit through Visa, Person to Person, Checks, and Bank Wire. Our Visa deposit was accepted instantly and we had no problem getting money in. For players in Canada and elsewhere Neteller and Skrill are also available.
Getting money out was a bit more of a process and certainly didn’t set any speed records. I won just enough to get the check option, as the minimum was $1,000 to pull out. I also took advantage of their “1 free check per month option” which arrived at my house in about 16 business days.
Customer service is pretty good, and we found the staff to be friendly. We were in contact with support several times to check on the withdrawal process and were always treated with respect by the staff. If banking is the major issue with BetMania, customer service may just be its greatest asset.
Overall we feel that BetMania is a good book that has to do a better job with its mobile system. The site’s lines are competitive and the live dealer casino product is very nice. They may not be my number one choice of US sports betting sites, but based on my positive experiences with bonuses, withdraws and support, I will definitely be coming back.
