Bet Latina Review

When we see a lot of internet based sportsbooks based in Costa Rica, it seems that sites are either very good or very bad, with very little in between. A lot of those sites are old dogs who have been around for a while and been really good, or horrible and just sticking around waiting to take your money.

Bet Latina breaks those molds. The site is newer and as such has not built up the reputation of industry staples such as 5Dimes or BetDSI. We actually never had really heard much of this site.

What did we end of thinking of this newer sportsbook? Read on to find out.

Simple and Sweet

We ended up visiting Bet Latina’s website and were greeted with a simple looking site that was a bit different from what we often see with online sportsbetting destinations. The site has a blue/gray/white color scheme that is kind of blasé, but is actually quite functional.

The simplicity of the site’s layout has a betting system that is surprisingly deep. We found the lines to be competitive, and the sports available for action included: Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Boxing, MMA, Golf, Auto Racing, Tennis, Cricket, and Props.

Overall bet types available are limited however, and include: Straight Bets, Teaser, and Parlays. We really would like to see different bets added in the future, as we hate being limited by what we can wager on.

Those looking for a change of pace will be able to visit Bet Latina’s horse book and two casino products. We found the virtual casino to be underwhelming, but we did quite enjoy the live casino product. The games and girls available there are definitely entertaining, and we found ourselves spending more time there than at other books with live casinos given the lack of bet types available.

Ugly Mobile= Stay Away!

While we liked the simple desktop site functionality. We hated the mobile site found here. Having fat fingers, I found it very difficult to navigate Bet Latina’s site, and the fear of placing an incorrect bet actually stopped me from using the site at all. Lines appeared to match up to the desktop site, but the overall ugly layout had me leaving mere minutes after logging in.

Unless you are desperate to place a bet on your mobile device, I would recommend staying away from Bet Latina’s mobile site.

Bonuses… These Do Count As Bonuses, Don’t They?

Another feature we were underwhelmed by at Bet Latina is the bonus system. These guys must not have the deep pockets that their competitors do, because we found some absolutely anemic bonuses. Bonuses were as such: 5% if you deposit $50 or more, 10% if you deposit more than $150, or 25% if you deposit $300-900. No matter how you slice it, those bonuses are a bit underwhelming, and a lot of other US friendly books offer a lot more with better rollover.

Banking and Support: Another Round of Few Options

We were really looking forward to the banking system being decent enough to pull us back into Bet Latina’s corner, and it did, but only just. For anyone who bets online in the USA, you’ll know our options for putting money into our accounts is very limited, with Visa and MasterCard normally the only choices available.

So it was no surprise when BetLatina offered more of the same. The options for funding a BetLatina account are Visa, MasterCard and P2P transfers. For players outside the US Moneybookers may also be used. We made a Visa deposit, and found the money credited instantly, allowing me to dive right in and bet immediately.

Withdrawal options are also limited. You can pull money out by Check or Person to Person transfer. Limits for the checks are very high, with a $1,000 minimum, and Person to Person having a $100 minimum. Moneybookers has a $25 minimum, but US punters cannot use an account there.

Customer service is extremely good, as we found the people that we dealt with to be friendly and very helpful. We found the instant messaging to be fast and efficient, and we had absolutely no problems getting the full details on the paltry bonuses available. There are a lot of things that need to be fixed with Bet Latina, but customer service is not one of them.

All in all we have to say that Bet Latina is a young book that looks extremely promising, albeit with a small bit of growing up to do. The betting options are a little limited, the mobile platform is ugly and the bonuses are a touch on the stingy side.

Their banking system is fairly solid and should cater for anyone in the US. Coupled with this is their good customer service and decent sports lines, which bring this site back up into positive territory.

Overall, I think BetLatina are not quite there yet, but given a bit more time, could easily make waves in the US sportsbook scene. Watched this space.

Overall: C+
